8 Things to Know About Adjusting Your Taylor Made R15 Driver Settings.Review by by Derek Murray at ForeGolf August 2015 ARTICLE UPDATE: We’ve conducted even more R&D on the R15, Read the latest March 2015 Last month we wrote an but here’s some tips on how to adjust the TaylorMade R15 Driver. You will find some similarities of the new R15 Driver to the SLDR driver and Jet Speed drivers of last season. There are two moveable parts to the R15 Driver 1) the hosel sleeve where the shaft goes 2) the two silver sliding weights on the sole The sleeve on the R15 works a lot like the SLDR driver and Jet Speed drivers of last season where you can open the screw at the neck and rotate the head. The sliding weight looks a lot like the SLDR but now splits in half so you can better position the weight 8 Things to Know About Adjusting Your Taylor Made R15 Driver. There are 12 different positions/notches around the hosels circumference. Each notch creates a different angle/position of the head.

There is a small dark arrow on the hosel to show where you need to set the hosel position to have that setting take effect. The LOWER position creates a lower launching ball flight and it also opens the face – more fade to the right for a R/H golfer.

The HIGHER setting creates a higher launching ball flight and closes the angle of the face – more draw to the left for a R/H golfer. The UPRT LIE (upright) setting allows for the current flatter lie of the R15 to be adjusted to a more upright angle for taller golfers, that visually need to see a more upright angled head. This setting also helps golfers that need a neutral/square face angle but need to create more draw on their shots. There are notches between the different settings which are the incremental changes towards that setting. So for instance if you want the head to be a little UPRIGHT and a little LOWER flighted – then position the hosel at the notch between the two settings. As the hosel affects the head angle and in turn the ball flight, coordinating the right shaft flex, tip and specifically the correct torque of the shaft is very important.

The way the head turns or releases through impact are controlled with the help of torque. As a rough guide if you need less movement or a firmer feel use a low torque and if you need a more active feel go for a higher torque. The sliding weights on the sole are not as effective for influencing the left to right (Fade) or right to left (Draw) spin axis on the ball. They are actually better suited to increase speed and lower spin on the ball. From our testing the weights should be placed each side of where you hit the ball on the face. Capture where your strikes are on the face using face tape or spray and then split the weights and align them so they sit each side of the strike marks (even if they are off-centre). Do this, and watch the ball speed increase and the stability of the clubhead improve.

This might sound simple but there are Right and Left sleeves. Make sure your sleeve is a R/H one if you are right handed and a L/H one if you are left handed. It’s printed on the sleeve with a simple R/H and L/H so you can check. What can you do to get the BEST from the R15? The bottom line is that the driver is really well designed and is made to be tweaked to suit you. So get your wrench out and use this guide to test some of the different settings and work out what will suit you and your ball flight best. I promised myself if I was playing golf regularly enough that I’d buy new fitted clubs, I had every intention of going to the “high street” shops or a club pro but I heard about Foregolf from a friend, I done some research and decided this is the way to go so I recently got fitted in Foregolf. And I absolutely loved it!! From the moment I walked in Derek made me feel very welcome and unbelievably at ease.

I went for the full bag check and would 100% recommend it, you are under absolutely no obligation to buy when you visit. But of course I did. I went with Mizuno irons and wedges that I couldn’t wait to pick up, I have only played with my new clubs 4 times and have lost a shot already!! I am defo going to get my 3wood and rescue off Foregolf sooner rather than later!! If you love your golf get yourself up here for a bag check, best money I’ve ever spent!! Thanks again Folks. I’ll be seeing you again soon!

I had tried for the past 4 to 6 years to replace an old brass headed putter and it was beginning to drive me crazy. I was recommended by a friend who knew Derek and I booked a 30 mins putter fitting. I brought along 3 of the many putters I had bought and was using depending on which one let me down the least on any given month. The set up and team are great I was taken straight in and told to putt away.

I was told I have a straight putting path and all 3 of the putters I brought along were toe heavy putters and all bar one were far to long. I am 5ft 6in tall and was shown that I struggled to get my eye line within 5 inches above the ball path. Two of the putters I was fitted for by a well known retailer. At foregolf I was given a series of putters to see what I liked to try and balance it with what I needed. Such a great experience and I left realising I wasn't mad the last few years struggling from 4 ft. My weight and roll were really good according to the data so once I had the right club put in my hand it felt great.

This is a REAL fitting center and until you experience the data and the method of fitting I don't think you can appreciate it. Regarding cost I am currently waiting on my less than 250 euros odyssey putter from foregolf which will replace the putters I had previously bought, one of which was a scotty which cost over 350 euros so that puts it all into perspective. I loved it, so thanks a million I can't wait to beat old scoresJohn.

4.7/5 stars Pros and Cons of the TaylorMade R15 Driver The launch date of the TaylorMade R15 was late 2014. What a difference two years makes when it comes to ideology in the industry.

The R15, like its predecessors in the R series, went to great lengths to move the CG (Center of Gravity) lower and forward in the clubhead. Today, the CG is lower, but manufacturers are trying to move it as far BACK as they can. Driving this shift in ideology is today’s golf balls. They are designed to have lower spin rates, especially for the drivers. A golf ball struck with a higher launch angle combined with less spin, will give increased overall distance.

Let’s take a look at some of the features of the R15 that, although markedly different from current product, still have loyal TaylorMade customers buying this driver some two years later. Amazon: Distance The Front Track that houses the two weights is 12mm closer to the front of the face. This acts as a speed pocket of sorts to give the face more flex and thus ball speed. When hit with the two weights in the center position, the extra weight serves to add distance as well. Forgiveness The adjustability in regards to the sliding weights should also enable the golfer to find a combination that maximizes forgiveness within his/her swing. Adjustability The Front Track adjustment weights are joined with the adjustable hosel to make the R15 a pioneer when it comes to adjustability.

Open Client 15.0). This is required even if connecting locally from the 64-bit machine since Omnis Studio is a 32-bit application. If the server is running locally, you can use the word localhost in place of the IP address. Sql anywhere developer edition (free version download for mac If using DSEdit, you can also 'ping' the server to test that the connection details are correct. It is important to note that the name chosen for the connection matches the name of a database running on the ASA server, otherwise you will receive an error 'Requested server name not found' when attempting to connect. Edit your interfaces file (either using a text editor or the DSEdit utility if available) and add the following entry: demo master tcp ether xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 2638 query tcp ether xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 2638 where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx represents the IP address of the ASA server.

Nowadays, we are seeing most golf club manufacturers move in this direction. Two years ago, however, this was a revolutionary idea. The hosel adjustment is such that the golfer can adjust the loft +/- two degrees. The Front Track sliding weights consist of two 12.5 gram weights that move independently of each other.

This compares to the SLDR which had one 20 gram weight that moved along its track. There are 21 different combinations available when positioning the weights. Specifications Right-handed and left-handed 460cc head. Lofts available: 9.5, 10.5, 12 and 14 degrees. Shaft: TM Fujikura Speeder 57 Evolution.

Flex: Light, ladies, regular, stiff and extra stiff. Front Track and hosel adjustability. 460cc and 430cc clubhead available. Clubhead available in white or black Acoustics The only thing to mention here is the fact that when the weights are in the neutral position, the sound is more muted due to the weight being directly behind the sweet spot.

Otherwise, the R15 sounds much like the drivers that preceded it. Optics With the R15 being available in both white and black, it should also appeal to golfers who want something other than white. The white crown still gives the best alignment presentation in my opinion. Workability The weight adjustability will enable the player to shape his ball flight in a way that hasn’t been available previously. Moving the weights to either the maximum draw or fade setting will help the player change his flight in a subtle way.

To put it plainly, this will not on its own fix your slice. It can help lessen your slice, but it won’t fix the problem. That is up to you. What it will do is change your ball flight in a subtle way, moving you towards a fade or draw. Accessories There is a tool provided in order to adjust the sole weights and the hosel adjustment screw. Pros. Lower CG adds ball speed and distance.

Front Track serves as a speed pocket that increases ball speed. 21 different weight adjustment positions available. Black crown option. 430cc head is available Cons.

Not as forgiving. Adjustability needs some dedication to detail. Too much spin imparted on the ball. Lower launch angle is hard to control directionally Who is it for? This driver is not for high handicap players. If this is you, look for a more forgiving driver. However, in the hands of a good ball striker, the R15 can and will give added distance and a degree of workability not seen from TaylorMade in the past.

Amazon: Consumer reviews By: “Adjusting the hosel and sole weights helped achieve significant improvement in launch and spin as well as shot shape.” By: “This was really easy to get on with. I like the no-nonsense white head and there’s lots to tweak to get the best ball flight in small increments. It’s easy to dial in a high-launch, low-spin trajectory.” Amazon.
